Stanford's University Information Technology (UIT) organization services diverse clientele from various university business units and schools. We are a hub of business analysts, developers, testers and architects who design and build applications to support core functions of the University.
We are looking for a passionate Oracle Software Developer to join our Middleware and Integration Services (MaIS) group in Administrative Systems within University IT. MaIS is responsible for services and technologies that are used by the campus community and by University business systems to manage enterprise data about people, organizations, courses, workgroups, and authority. The group manages a set of central Registries and additionally supports a suite of Java developed applications and background processes which facilitate enterprise integration.
This position is for a team focused on development and maintenance of these systems, and requires a developer with proficiency in Oracle database development. The incumbent works closely with the other System developers, Business analysts, QA and the deployment and operations teams to successfully deploy software applications. A successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record for designing and developing enterprise information systems that are secure, reliable, and scalable.
Responsibilities:
Propose, conceptualize, design, implement, and develop solutions for difficult and complex applications independently.
Oversee testing, debugging, change control, and documentation for major projects.
Supervise professional staff, as necessary, working on all phases of application development projects.
Engage in long-term strategic planning.
Collaborate with project managers to implement end-to-end solutions for complex projects
Define complex application development administration and programming standards.
Oversee the support, maintenance, operation, and upgrades of applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
Review the physical design of existing systems for optimizing performance.
Lead projects, as necessary, for special systems and application development in areas of complex problems.
Work with other technical professionals to develop standards and implement best practices.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
Proficient in Oracle database development, design and performance tuning
5+ years of Oracle PL/SQL development and SQL programming experience preferred
Experience working with Oracle Application Express (APEX) desired
Ability to work with and coordinate with other developers using tools such as Jira, SLACK, Confluence, Mulesoft, SnapLogic
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming tools.
Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications.
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients.
Demonstrated experience leading activities on structured team development projects.
Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and/or operations procedures.
